About Ludlow's

Ludlow’s Island Resort offers northwoods cabins set at the water’s edge of Lake Vermillion, under a canopy of pine and birch, as well as idyllic fishing opportunities.

Lake Vermilion

Ludlow’s Island Resort is located on a 5-acre private island on Lake Vermilion.

Lake Vermilion boasts the longest shoreline in the state at more than 340 miles long and is home to over 365 islands and 40,000 acres of blue waters stretching 40 miles across the heart of Minnesota's Arrowhead Region.

Lake Vermilion is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts.

History of Ludlow’s

Ludlow's was first coined when Joseph Burr Ludlow came to Lake Vermilion in 1907 and fell in love with its 365 islands and 40,000 acres of sky-blue waters. He loved it so much, in fact, that he decided to purchase an island on the lake for $300. His family loved it, too, and his son Hod built the first cabin there in 1933 and began renting it to friends in 1939.

More guest cabins were built throughout the years, all without the use of electricity. Hod’s son Mark later purchased the resort and he and his wife Sally raised their four children on the island.

In 2022, the Jermusek and Egan families joined the Ludlow's as partners in the resort.  The Jermusek, Egan, and Ludlow families look forward to welcoming new and existing generations of guests to the Island for years to come.
