To improve the quality of fishing on Lake Vermilion the Department of Natural Resources has established some “slot” limits. Northern Pike: All from 24 to 36” must be released. One over 36” allowed in possession. Three total possession limit. Walleye: All from 17-26” must be released. One over 26” allowed in possession. Possession limit is four. Muskellunge: Minimum size limit is 48”.

Sports, Combination (husband and wife) $38.50
Non-Resident Licenses
Angling, Individual $39.50
Angling, Family (one or both parents and children under age 16) $52.50

Minnesota U.S. Military personnel who are stationed outside the state do not need a fishing license. Non-residents do need a license.

Walleye and Sauger 6 Not more than 1 walleye over 20” in possession
Northern Pike 3 Not more than 1 over 30” in possession
Muskie 1 Minimum size 40”
Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass 6  
Crappie 10
